MILITARY RIBBONS AVAILABLE TO ALL FDNY VETERANS:
The F.D.N.Y. has always honored our military veterans. With that in mind B.C. Tom Martin,(ret.Bn.3) submitted a proposal to Commissioner Daniel Nigro and Chief of Department James Leonard to recognize our F.D.N.Y. Veterans with a military ribbon. The idea was enthusiastically endorsed and the project went forward. It was determined that any F.D.N.Y. Member who was honorably discharged from any of the five branches of the Armed Forces or is currently servings in a branch would be eligible to wear a ribbon. The ribbons were designed by F & M Printing of Nesconset,N.Y. and the manufacturing was carried out by United Insignia Co. Who currently make all FDNY ribbons. Financial support was provided by the Fire Foundation.
To all the retired FDNY Vets, to receive your ribbon,
e-mail your name, address and branch of service to
Tom Martin.

DISABLED VETERANS ARE NOW HONORED IN DC WITH A
NATIONAL MEMORIAL
so entitled:
AMERICAN VETERANS DISABLED FOR
LIFE MEMORIAL
It is located on a 2 acre site in view of the Capitol with inspiring quotes etched in glass and granite walls, a black granite reflecting pool and a star shaped fountain. At the star's center is a ceremonial flame, honoring all veterans-living and dead-who suffered disabling injuries.
It is now opened to the public.
It's a symbol of our nation's perseverance
on and off the Battlefield.
(Make sure you visit it when you are down in DC)
